Open Door Policy

In an effort to accomodate the residents of the Town, Supervisor Quigley is making his office as well as himself more accessibe. Saturdays in January Town Hall and the Supervisor's office is open for business.
As well as being on hand to discuss issues with residents, the Town Clerks office will be open at the same time, 9 AM to Noon Jamuary 8th, 15th, 22nd and 29th, for anyone wishing to pay their taxes.
It may seem trivial to some but it was a major sticking point with residents during the Woerner Administration, Nick's unwillingness to return phone calls and keep appointments and answer questions as well as respond to the concerns of residents.

  1. I work 9-5 Monday to Friday, it's very difficult to get to town hall for me during normal business hours. I'm glad to see the Supervisor instituting weekend hours, especially for the clerks office. Maybe next year I won't have to go to Walmart to get my hunting license, or get docked an hour so I can get a transfer station permit & renew my dog's license. Thanks!

  2. Sounds good. But will Quigley be in his office during the week or is he still going down to the city at three days a week. He did this in 2010. I hope 2011 is different.

  3. 439 that is funny! Every time I seem to go past Town Hall, Quigley's car is in the lot. Quigley appears to have put in more time in error in 2010 than Woerner did in 4 years. Get your facts straight before you go shooting from the hip with a gun full of blanks!!!

  4. 4:39 Last time I checked, the Supervisor is a part time job. At least Quigley is AVAILABLE to the people of the town, via phone, email or in person EVERY DAY! Nothing like "NO SHOW Nicky!"

  5. Don't forget, 4:39, it's a part-time job - at $45K/year, you wouldn't expect it to be full-time. That said, Quigley's accomplishments in his first year are still superior to Nick totally screwing up the town's finances for the past 4 years (with help from the Town Board, of course). Nick was notorious for not answering phone calls and leaving his car parked in front of Town Hall while he went off with someone else. Quigley spends many weekends at Town Hall just fixing Nick's mess.

  6. Hey 5:02..."Get my facts straight" ?? I don't just ride by once in a while, I work at Town Hall. I KNOW the facts. Maybe you should check your gun for blanks. I m not an anti Quigley or pro Woerner, just stating a fact.

  7. 3:04PM Posting on the Blogs from WORK at Town Hall? I am sure the Supervisor would approve of it. Did you know Supervisor Woerner put in a tracking device on all internet connections?

  8. 4:39/3:04, good job oh Town of Ulster employee, pretty curious that "fact" of yours, yet you fail to mention the "fact" that the supervisor is a part time position. I assume you have a FULL TIME job with BENEFITS, courtesy of my tax dollars, requiring your presence 40 hours a week, with OVERTIME PAID for every MINUTE you work beyond that! I have NO PROBLEM with Mr. Quigley taking care of his private business as he has been consistently available since the day he took office to handle the PEOPLE's business, well in excess of his compensation. The gesture of keeping weekend hours is above and beyond anything the former supervisor would have even dreamed of.

Perhaps this supervisor actually pays attention to the job your supposed to be doing, thereby earning your scorn? But I digress...

  9. 304, if you are an employee of the Town maybe your work load is a little light. It seems you have all of this free time to inventory all of the personnel coming in and out of the building on a daily basis, state your work area and maybe the supervisor can make your time a little more productive with some work.

  10. Who the F--- cares. You all sound like a bunch of children.

  11. When you compare Quigley to Woerner he could never come out on the short end of the stick.

It is impossible to be worse or even as bad as Woerner.

The real question is whether or not Quigley is effective and respected by his peers and employees. A little birdie tells me he may be having a trouble in those areas.

    ReplyDelete
  12. but the employees that don't respect him are probably the same employees that are despised and not respected by their own subordinates. For very good reason. A little birdie told me those people have been having that problem for a great many years.

  13. You hit the nail on the head there 8:51. That little birdie is right on target.

    ReplyDelete
  14. 8:51 & 4:40, your "birdie" just an old flea-bitten crow. The only "birdie" that Quigley ought to consider is flipping all of you a**holes "the bird" when he leaves office because of the institutional bu**shit everyone with their own agenda here in the T/Ulster put him through.

To the exclusion of the nay-sayers, keep up the good work Mr. Supervisor, the majority of people in this town admire, respect and support your efforts.

  15. If I can be a little lazy, 9:53 said it all, Good Job Mr. Supervisor!

  16. Jim Quigley is the best thing to happen to Ulster since his mentor Fred Wadnola. Fred should come back to the town board and straighten it out just like he has straightened out Mike Hein and Ulster County.

    ReplyDelete
  17. WOW Is that a joke 2:04. Fred screwed up the Town and now he screwing up the County big time.

    ReplyDelete
  18. 2:04 Are you on crack? Wadnola is Hein's puppet and does what he says. Why do you think Terry Bernardo was relieved of her committee? Wadnola is a freakin' joke up there. He should resign....when he returns from Florida that is.

    ReplyDelete
  19. Fred hasn't been Supervisor since 2004, when he left office he left a 1.6 Million dollar general Fund Balance, his problem's were the Town Board. Barbara Wise, (councilwoman) and Craig Artist, (Councilman) their arrogance and poor judgement alienated the board from the residents.

    ReplyDelete
  20. Where is Fred when all of this turmoil is taking place? When important issues arise, leaders adjust their schedules and address them head on. They do not deflect or refuse to discuss them. This is unacceptable.

    From the Times Herald Record.....

"Wadnola responded to a call by saying he didn't wish to discuss legislative business while on vacation in the state of Florida."

Not to defend Fred's reluctance to respond, however he might have not had all the facts and conjecture can make the issue more volitile and not afford any real information.
I'm sure he'll have plenty to say when he gets back.

    ReplyDelete
  22. As Chairman he has responsibilities that trump any vacation planned or otherwise. Especially when an agency in his charge is being investigated by the District Attorney, the county is on the brink of suing New York City, there are major problems within his own caucus, and the Executive is trying everything he can to wrest power from the Legislature. Absentee legislator is one thing, absentee chairman is entirely another.

Fred is failing in his duties, he gets a big old red F for this marking period.

  24. Awesome! Our Supervisor is putting in extra hours to serve the townspeople and the Chairman of the Legislature is tanning by the pool sipping Margarita's while the County Legislature falls apart around him. Awesome!

What's wrong with that picture? It is disgraceful.

    ReplyDelete
  25. What does Fred have to do with the Supervisor? And after dealing with the idiots in the legislature, who cant do without a few margaritas!

    ReplyDelete
  26. I like the open door policy much better than the previous administration's non-returned phone call policy. Seems to work much better.

  27. Comparing Quigley to Woerner is pointless. Woerner was a complete and utter failure. If Quigley does not do everything better than Woerner, I would be worried.
It is not that big of an accomplishment to say you have done better at anything than the failure known as Nick Woerner.

    ReplyDelete
  28. I hear Woerner's Uncle and Aunt lost their house because Nick could not hold the promise to keep her employed. Nick also dragged his Uncle into the t-shirt mess at the little league. They no longer speak.

I also heard that he is no longer on good terms with cousin by marriage, Steve Aaron who he helped for 4 years while he was in office.
    They no longer speak.

All of his huffing and puffing, Mr. Big Shot bulls*t has caught up to him. Couldn't happen to a nicer guy. Now that he works for Ginsberg, Bank of America is leaving. Bad news just seems to follow this guy.

    ReplyDelete
  29. I see the boy blunder Nick Woerner, is sticking his nose in Kingston's business now. The arrogance and narcissism of this guy is unbelievable. Does he not get that people DO NOT CARE what he has to say? One would think that after the beating Quigley gave him, he would get the message. NICK WOERNER, WE DO NOT LIKE YOU, GO AWAY!

  30. The celebration begins today in the Town of Ulster. Nick Woerner has moved back to the City of Kingston! Parade will start at Tech City and end up at Chambers Court! Come one, come all!
