Thanks to some sharp thinking on the part of the Town Board and the Recreation Department, ( and the help of a Government Grant), residents of the Town of Ulster will soon be able to enjoy public access to the Esopus Creek by what is to be know as Kayak Park.
Located behind the Town of Ulster Police Department on Mulvin Drive the park will provide access to the Esopus Creek for kayaking and canoeing.
Properties owned by the Town have long been idle, the idea of utilizing these properties for the benefit of residents may not be novel but until the new administration took office was sadly overlooked.
Any one living in or visiting the Town of Ulster enjoys it's natural beauty and panoramic views. Adding public access to Esopus Creek can only improve the quality of life for everyone, residents and visitors alike.
its about time!
ReplyDeleteFor all you know it alls about the town there has been access to the creek at Orlando St Park for years, you can drive yor car down to the creek and put your kayak in without costing anybody anyting
ReplyDeleteAnd that location is on PRIVATE PROPERTY. When the owner figures it out the site will be posted No Treaspassing.
ReplyDeleteHas anyone had a look at how trashed the 'Private Property' on Orlando st is? There are safety issues as well as trespass issues.
ReplyDeleteAnd reading this article I thought it was by benefit of a gov't grant. Are they only justifiable when Hinchey improves his properties with sewer upgrades at the displacement of local businesses?
Or is improving his property value how we should spend gov't money?
9:27 give me a break!
It's a kayak park, not a marina. Next time you see a kayaker, ask them about the environment. In general, they are fanatical about keeping it clean and cleaning dirty places.
ReplyDeleteThis is a good reuse of a flood prone parcel. Now if they can get the ACoE to dredge the bottom to remove the Hurley corn fields that were relocated during the floods, all will be well.
It's not private property
ReplyDeleteRe: Ulster Manor
ReplyDeleteQuigley paying back his supporters at the expense of good honest taxpaying citizens. What a shame.
Quigley goes down a couple of notches in my book. I will rethink my Conservative vote next time. What happened to individual property rights?
Word has it that Frank Petramale hired Nicky Woerners pedefile cousin to a DPW position. Oh, thats right, Frankie boy was a member of Woerner's poker nite gang! What is so special about Petramale?? This guy has always played both sides of the action. What does he stand for, other than himself. He is not as popular as he thinks he is. People are watching...
ReplyDeleteIf you mean Pedophile, isn't the criminal background check for new hires?
ReplyDelete11;48, Steven Williams plead guilty to a lesser charge of sexual misconduct. He was having an affair with an under aged girl in kingston while working at Kingston funeral parlor. She was a student studying at place of business. We taxpayers in our Town need to know that our Dept. heads are hiring people of good character and not doing political favors for old friends like Petramale is doing. everyone knows how cozy Frank and the Woerner administration was!
ReplyDeleteI agree with 10:52, Frank Petremale HAS been plying both sides of the fence for years and believes he is untouchable. I believe we should hold our Departments under a close watch and see that they are doing the right things. Mr. Petremale needs to know that NO ONE individual is untouchable, and really at the end of the day Petremale is just another politician.
ReplyDeleteMaybe Frank is the opposite of a politician? Maybe he doesn't allow party affiliation to influence his decisions? Maybe we need more people like Frank and less like Quigley who clearly let politics get involved with decisions made about Ulster Manor.
ReplyDeleteVince Guido or Frank Petramle, who would you trust more?
As for hiring someone who has a criminal record, that is up to the town board. They have to vote on each hire, after the person meets all of the civil service requirements.
DONT KID YOURESELF, PETRAMLE IS DEFINETLY A POLITICIAN. He has been playing the game a long time and he kisses up to who ever is in play! (Politics 101) And, yes the board needs to to consider this hiring of a guy with a history of sexual misconduct. (Frank is behind him 100%)
ReplyDeleteI don't get it, what is with the ripping on Frank Petremale?
ReplyDeleteI don't know about you guys but my road is plowed 100 times better than Kingston long before I wake up, my brush is picked up almost as fast I can put it on the street. And his department does damn good work and they are nice people when they are working in my neighborhood.
As far as working with Woerner, we kind of forced him to have to work with Woerner when we elected him Highway Superintendent. It is his job and he did it and does it well. Whether he is friends with him or not doesn't matter to me as long as he runs his department well. If you don't like him vote him out, but I won't be voting against the guy.
As far as who he hires, have you asked him or the town board (who has final approval)or do you just plan to keep on trashing him and his employees on here anonymously?
Nobody is trashing his employees Jeremiah,or Einstein or whoever you are... lets face it, jeremiah is not your real name so you are posting anonymously too! LOL! All we are saying is that he is a bit of a buttkisser as well as a politician and he IS pushing to hire a shady guy who has a disgraceful history. Furthermore, Frank does indeed have alot to say about who he wants working in his dept. We are all entitled to our opinion and I WONT be voting for the guy.
ReplyDeleteFirst off brain child, Jeremiah is my real name most know exactly who I am I am sorry you do not. Steve William's is one of his employees from what I understand so therefore you are trashing one of his employees. And furthermore I understand that Frank would probably have a lot to say which is why I wondered if you had asked Frank OR the Town Board.
ReplyDeleteYou are entitled to your opinion, I never said you didn't. I was just trying to understand how we went to the Kayak park to complaining about the Highway Super. And whether the concerns that some people clearly have were brought to anyone that can actually straighten out the situation or at least explain what is going on.
Vote for whoever you want, in between trolling the blogs while eating poptarts in your mother's basement.
Looks like someone is gearing up to run against Frank next time out. What a lousy town Ulster is. One low life after another in politics.
ReplyDeleteUmmm, I love poptarts Jeremiah! Sounds like you need to count to ten and take a deep breath, good buddy! Lets agree, to disagree, agreeably, or do you need to go to the employees assist. program for a talk on the couch? You are a gov. employee arent you, sport? Ulster is your town too ia a blog to talk about ALL town of U subject matter,so easy does it. Believe me, IT IS being talked about by folks probably more than you know... Oh, and if someone wishes to run against Frankie boy that means they are a lowlife? What about some of the "lowlifes" Frank cozies up to? Does good old Frank get a free pass?
ReplyDeleteI have problem with anybody's opinion, I just don't like being told that I am lying, especially by someone who is concealing their identity. I used my real name and didn't try to hide out. All I was trying to understand in my first post is how we went to complaining about the Highway Superintendent. Like I said I am pretty darn happy with the service I get from the Highway Dept in this town.
ReplyDeleteAnd I am sure that if anyone has a problem with something that is being done in any town department, they can approach the department head or the Town Board for answers. If they are blown off, then we have a problem. After all that is the type of stuff that these guys said they were going to stop.
As far as someone running against Frank, absolutely. There should never be an unopposed race anywhere ever, nor is someone a lowlife for running or wanting to run against someone else. But they would have a lot more standing if they went on the record. I even would take it a step further than one party should not have 100% control over a town board. Not that I have a problem with anything going on in the town really, but I don't think it works in the long run with no opposing view or minority voice.
PS: Where I work there probably isn't money for EAP. There isn't money for anything else. lol
That should be "I have no problem"
ReplyDeleteI think that the people throwing mud a full year before the election are lowlifes.
ReplyDeleteThere is not much that anyone can do if the person is on the top of the list and they meet the qualifications. If the town doesn't hire them, they get sued.
7:32, snzzzzzz...snzzzzz.. yawn... you are boring me with your LAME excuses for poor Frankie boy. LOL! The town doesn't have to hire ANYONE they don't want to,smarty pants. Frank is a public official and public officials are ALWAYS open for criticism BEFORE,DURING,and AFTER campaigns! Frank was always known as a little soft, what do YOU have to fight his battles for him? tsk,tsk..
ReplyDeleteI agree there are many ways around civil service laws. Just look at the city of kingston. They have been doing it for years.
ReplyDeleteI think it is shameful that our town is hiring the quality of people it is right now. I am hoping that Supervisor Frank Petramale is not pushing to hire this bum and that our board is not doing what the others were doing that we voted out!
ReplyDeleteQuigley will resign by the end of the year as Wadnola and the Good Ol'Boys want him out. They can't control him and are making his life miserable.
ReplyDeleteWadnola is a total cornball and half of a retard to boot!! LOL He couldnt fight his way out of a wet noodle from his dumpy restaurant!! Nobody takes that old washed up dude serious anymore.
ReplyDeleteFred is right up Mike Hein's ass. I work in the office building. I know what I see and hear. You would be shocked at some of the stuff Wadnola comes out with. He is not really that bright and he needs some diversity training.
ReplyDeleteTime out here. The way I understand it is like this. Williams was hired by WOERNER while he was in office at the transfer station. A position opened up at the highway dept through retirement and Williams requested a transfer to the highway dept which had to be honored through the union contract. Therefore I don't believe that this guy was hired by Petramale. Get your facts straight.
ReplyDeleteI want a job at the highway dept, what do I have to do, (I hope I don't have to do anything illegal?.
ReplyDelete8:08, that is all correct, however, everybody knows that Petramale was up Woerner's ass and played on his friday night poker games. I am sure that you can pick between top two people that put in for the job, you DO NOT have to slide Steve Williams in DPW because he wants to go there, unless Frank is pushing for him...YOU check YOUR facts with how civil service employees advance and just how it all works!
